Lisa Vanderpump (born 15 September 1960)[1] is a British restaurateur, designer, television personality, author and humanitarian. She is known for her appearances on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Vanderpump Rules, and Vanderpump Dogs.
Vanderpump and her husband, Ken Todd, have owned 36 restaurants, bars and clubs in London and Los Angeles, including The Shadow Lounge, Bar Soho, SUR Restaurant & Lounge, Villa Blanca, Pump Restaurant, Tom Tom Restaurant & Bar and Vanderpump Cocktail Garden.
Early life
Vanderpump was a enrolled in drama school at the age of 9.[2]
Career
Entertainment
Vanderpump made her film debut in 1973's A Touch of Class, playing the daughter of Glenda Jackson's character,[3] and also appeared in the cult horror film Killer's Moon (1978). In the late 1970s, Vanderpump appeared in four episodes of the British series Kids, a show about children taken into an assessment centre in the UK. At this time she met a very young Naomi Campbell, who was also cast in the same show.[4]
Throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, Vanderpump had small roles in various episodic television programs. Vanderpump appeared on the television series Silk Stalkings as Coleen Osgood and as Margo Curtis on Baywatch Nights.[5]
Vanderpump was featured in the 1980s music videos "Poison Arrow" and "Mantrap" by the band ABC[6] and also "(What) In The Name of Love" by the duo Naked Eyes.[7] Vanderpump was featured in the 2014 music video for "G.U.Y." by Lady Gaga.[8]
Vanderpump debuted on Bravo's The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2010 and is an original cast member of the show. On June 3, 2019, Vanderpump announced her departure from the show after nine seasons following "Puppygate", a scandal suggesting that Vanderpump was trying to shade co-star Dorit Kemsley for not returning a puppy back to The Vanderpump Dog Foundation.[9]
In April 2011, Vanderpump was part of CNN's coverage of the Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.
In 2013, Vanderpump was featured in a spin-off of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Vanderpump Rules, which focuses on the staff of her West Hollywood restaurants SUR Restaurant & Lounge, Pump Restaurant, and Tom Tom Restaurant & Bar.
Vanderpump competed on the 16th season of Dancing with the Stars, partnered with professional dancer Gleb Savchenko.[10] [11] They were the second couple eliminated from the competition, leaving in tenth place, on April 9, 2013.[12]
In 2021, Vanderpump was featured in a second spin-off of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Vanderpump Dogs, the series follows Vanderpump as she runs her dog foundation, The Vanderpump Dog Foundation.
Business
Before moving to the US, Vanderpump designed 26 of the London-based bars and restaurants that she co-owned with her husband. They own 3 restaurants in California. SUR Restaurant & Lounge, the focus of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills spin-off Vanderpump Rules, is based in West Hollywood along with Pump Restaurant and Tom Tom Restaurant & Bar.[2] [13]
In November 2011, Vanderpump authored Simply Divine: A Guide to Easy, Elegant, and Affordable Entertaining.
In November 2014, Vanderpump released a line of homewares called The Vanderpump Beverly Hills Collection by Pop Culture Promotions.[14]
In November 2015, Vanderpump and her husband launched a line of pet accessories, Vanderpump Pets.[15]
In October 2016, Vanderpump launched a line of emojis, Vandermojis. The collection, designed by Vanderpump, includes GIFs, stickers and audio messages.[16] [17]
In March 2017, Vanderpump opened her international 501(c)(3) non-profit dog Rescue Center, The Vanderpump Dog Foundation, located 8134 W 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90048, USA.
In March 2017, Vanderpump was named editor-in-chief of Beverly Hills Lifestyle Magazine.[18] Vanderpump has since departed her position as edition-in-chief of Beverly Hills Lifestyle Magazine.
In April 2017, Vanderpump launched a rosé, Vanderpump Rosé. Vanderpump Rosé is made from several grapes; Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah, sourced from the gorgeous vineyards of the Côtes de Provence AOP, France.
In March 2019, Vanderpump opened Vanderpump Cocktail Garden located in Caesars Palace.[19]
In April 2020, after much success of her Vanderpump Rosé, Vanderpump launched a Vanderpump Sonoma Coast Estate Chardonnay and Vanderpump Sonoma County Cabernet.
In July 2021, Vanderpump announced by Winter 2021 she was opening Vanderpump à Paris located in Paris Las Vegas.
Charity work
Together with her husband, Vanderpump supports Keep Memory Alive, founded by Larry Ruvo. The organization was established to bring awareness to neurological disorders, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, and Parkinson's disease.
Vanderpump was a recipient of the Ally Leadership Award from Equality California, an LGBT rights organization, in 2015.[20]
In October 2015, Vanderpump organized a protest march against the Lychee and Dog Meat Festival.[ citation needed ]
In June 2019, Vanderpump, longtime supporter of The Trevor Project, recorded a PSA to ensure that LGBTQ young people know they are loved, their lives have value, and are never alone.[21]
In July 2019, Vanderpump joined Richard Ayoub, Executive Director of Project Angel Food, to countdown to Project Angel Food's 12-millionth meal in the Project Angel Food's Hollywood kitchen.[22]
Personal life
Vanderpump has lived in London, Cheltenham, Monaco, and the South of France. Later, Vanderpump, along with her husband Ken Todd and children, moved to Los Angeles, California, in 2004, where they had lived briefly years before, buying a house in the gated community of Beverly Park.[23] In 2011, the couple sold their Beverly Park house for $18.8 million[24] and bought a $12 million house in the neighborhood of Benedict Canyon.[25] [26] [27] Vanderpump and Todd also own a house in Montecito, California.[28]
They have two children together.[29] Vanderpump has one stepson, British property developer, Warren Todd, from Ken's first marriage.
In July 2014, Vanderpump was honored with a Golden Palm Star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars.[30]
